Terms of Service

The short version

The Perfect Hint helps you find jewelry and gifts, mark the pieces you would love, and share them with one partner. We do not sell anything: when you buy, you buy from the retailer, on their site, under their terms. Your hints and notes are yours. Be decent to the person you link with. If something goes wrong with a purchase, the retailer is who can put it right.

The rest of this page is the same thing said precisely. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. How we handle your data is in our privacy policy.

Who we are

The Perfect Hint ("we", "us") is operated by The Perfect Hint LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, of 8253 Hardwood Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80908, United States. We run theperfecthint.com. These terms are an agreement between you and The Perfect Hint LLC.

What the service is

The Perfect Hint is a discovery service. We show you pieces from independent jewelers and established retailers, rank them by the taste you tell us about, and send you to the retailer when you want to buy. We are not the seller of anything you see here. We do not take payment, fulfil orders, ship, or handle returns — the retailer does all of that, under its own terms and policies.

Prices and availability

Prices, stock, descriptions and photographs come from the retailers, through the affiliate network that supplies our catalog. We update them regularly, but a price or an item can change on the retailer's site before it changes here. The price and availability on the retailer's site at the moment you buy are the ones that count.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use The Perfect Hint. Your account is for you alone. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. If you sign in with Google, your Google account is your way in, so keep it secure too. The details you give us should be true, and your own.

Partnerships and invitations

You can link your account with one other person's. While you are linked, your partner can see your taste map and your hints, including the occasions and notes you attach to them. That is the point of the service, so only link with someone you want to see them.

• ·An invitation is yours to send. Only invite someone you know and who would expect to hear from you. An invitation is a single-use link that stops working after 14 days, and nobody is linked until the person who opens it chooses to link.
• ·Either of you can end it. You can unlink at any time from your partnership page. Access ends at once, in both directions. Each of you keeps your own hints and taste map, and the "I am buying this" marks between you are deleted.

Your content

The notes and occasions you write on your hints are yours. You give us permission to store them and to show them to you and to the partner you link with, for as long as they are in your account, because the service cannot work without that. We do not use them for anything else, and we do not claim ownership of them.

Do not write anything in a note that you do not have the right to share, or that breaks the rules below. We may remove content that does, and we may suspend an account that keeps doing it.

Acceptable use

When you use The Perfect Hint, do not:

• ·use it to harass, threaten or deceive anyone, including the person you link with;
• ·invite, or link with, someone without their knowledge, or pretend to be someone else;
• ·post anything unlawful, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
• ·scrape, copy or resell the catalog, or get around the limits we put on search, rate or access, by bots or otherwise;
• ·try to reach data that is not yours, or disrupt the service or the people running it.

How we are paid

The Perfect Hint is free to use because retailers pay us. The links to retailers are affiliate links: if you follow one and buy something, the retailer pays us a commission through its affiliate network. It does not change the price you pay.

Disclaimers

We choose what to show with care, but we do not make or sell the pieces, so we make no promise about their quality, safety, description, fit, delivery or anything else about them. Any promise about a piece is the retailer's to make and to keep. Recommendations, taste matches and search results are suggestions, not advice.

We aim to keep the service running and correct, but we provide it as it is and as available, and we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors.

Our liability

We are not responsible for a retailer, its goods, or anything that happens on its site. We are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable when you started using the service, or for business loss.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.

Ending your account, or ours

You can stop using The Perfect Hint at any time, and delete your account from your account page. Deleting it deletes your hints, notes, taste map and partnership, as our privacy policy describes.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if the law requires us to. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put it right.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top of it. If a change matters, we will tell you before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute about them will be heard in the state courts of Albany County, Wyoming, or the federal courts for the District of Wyoming.

If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.
